We live in a world of technological artifacts and connectivity, already romantic partners; interdependent, disruptive, and enabling. The Cyborg Cabaret will explore this relationship at its source by leveraging collaborations between the arts, robotic, and technological fields, with workshops in the fall, curation of pieces in early 2012 and a series of performances in the Spring.
Our fall workshops are for exploration. We seek your participation as potential creators, inventors and artists. In addition to discussion about the event itself, we will bring videos and demos and seek your input for brainstorming. Awesome projects might experiment with real-time story-branching, improvisation, and character (human or robotic) interactions, as well as contrasting human cultural influences by developing performances reflecting different community contexts.
After several months of ambient workshops, there will be a final curation of pieces. At that point selected artists will individually and collectively develop acts which Dan and Heather will produce as three Cabaret events in March, April, and May. Each iteration will consist of a collection of self-contained sketches which will build upon each other from one event to the next, thus creating an arc of work.
